| If all you want to do is have fun, then MR2 is a better choice than many rival two-seaters. The powerful engine is mounted just behind the cockpit; it's smoothly responsive and works well with the slick six-speed gearbox to deliver real sports car thrills. Corners are a speciality, with lots of grip and the knowledge that a well driven MR2 can leave many bigger cars behind. You don't expect a small roadster like this to be refined, but it is. Whether the roof is up or down, noise is never intrusive. MR2 always feels solid, and the quality of the build and finish shines through. Some might moan about the measly luggage space, but that's a bit unreasonable: this is not meant as a practical car. But it's affordable to run, returning good fuel consumption. It has also proved to be reliable, keeping running costs low. And it holds its value well. |
